VISUAL ACTIVITY
Algonquian Ceremonial Dance When English artist John White visited the coast of present-day North Carolina in 1585 as part of Raleigh’s expedition, he painted this Algonquian ceremonial dance. This is one of the only likenesses of sixteenth-century North American Indians that were drawn from direct observation.
