Ida B. Wells Ida B. Wells began her antilynching campaign in 1892 after a friend’s murder led her to examine lynching in the South. Through lectures and pamphlets, she brought the horror of lynching to national and international audiences and became a founding member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
