1. Some students have a firm idea what they want to accomplish in college—what their major should be, what their career will be. But many students do not have any idea. Between these two positions, where are you?
2. What are elective courses? Why do colleges insist you take electives? How will you use your electives in your postcollege life?
3. These students have the benefit of an announcer revealing the Career Genie as a fraud. It would be nice if it were that easy to tell the bad advice from the good advice. How can you tell when an advisor/mentor is off track with his or her advice? How can you tell when the advice is resonating with you?
4. If you, instead of going to the Career Genie, explore and try to find your own purpose, are there risks involved (for example, not doing well or losing time)? Are you willing to take these risks? How can you mitigate the risks of "exploring" your purpose?
