1. Have you ever felt you were in a certain "group" of people? Examples of grouping criteria: ethnicity, religion, hair color, handedness (left, right, or both), driving ability, and so on. Can grouping be a source of pride as well as a source of concern? Give an example.
2. When you arrived at college, how did you perceive your new social community? What did you see in other students that did or did not look familiar to you? Have you been surprised by some of the differences among your peers?
3. Can student relationships be affected by different musical preferences? Can they be affected by whether someone is a vegetarian or likes ice dancing or synchronized swimming or Ping-Pong? Explain your answer.
4. Do you have friends who are, in some ways, significantly different from you? Do those differences ever come up in your relationship? How?
5. What are some broad generalizations you have heard about college-age people? What are some prejudices about college students?
