  • Is the question flexible enough to allow for many possible answers?
  • Is the question clear, focused, and interesting?
  • Are there scholarly publications on the question (books, journal articles, research studies)?
  • Is there a “So what?” to the question—a way to show readers why the question needs to be asked and why the answer matters?
  • Is the question too big for the length of the assignment?
