Exercise 31.1

EXERCISE 31.1

Using coordination to signal equal importance or to create special effects, combine and revise the following fourteen short sentences into several longer and more effective ones. Add or delete words as necessary.

The auditorium was filled with people. The sea of faces did not intimidate me. I had decided to appear in a musical with my local community theater group. There was no going back now. I reminded myself of how I had gotten here. It took hard work. I refused to doubt my abilities. Besides, the director and her staff had held auditions. I had read the heroine’s part. I had sung a song. They had chosen me for the role. I was untrained. My skills as an actor would now be judged publicly. I felt ready to rise to the challenge.
