Activity MM10-1
Your understanding of online file management tools

Online tools that help you create, annotate, manage, and save files can be especially helpful when you’re working with files you need to share with others. Look online for three such tools (GoogleDocs, for example) and generate a list of pros and cons for each. As you create your list, think about what criteria are important to you. Here are a few questions to help you get started:

  • Does the tool let you save multiple files in one place?
  • How large can the files be?
  • What types of files are allowed? Documents? Audio files? Image or movie files?
  • Do files remain posted until you take them down? Or do they expire after a set time?
  • Does the tool allow multiple people to edit a file at the same time?
  • Does the tool record information about who makes saved changes?
  • Can you easily download the file after all changes have been made and saved?

Record your responses in the following box. When you are finished, click Submit to record your answer in your instructor's gradebook. You may review your answer by returning to the activity at any time. (An activity reports to the gradebook only if your instructor has assigned it.)
