The following is the first sentence in the paragraph, written in the active voice: "In August 2000, Russian submarines performed maneuvers above the Arctic Circle." Correct the other sentences, below, to make them more emphatic and vigorous. (Although passive-voice sentences and be verbs can be effective, in the examples in this exercise they don’t work as well as active alternatives.) Answers may vary.
