Educators ask questions that are practical, theoretical, and self-reflective. Practical questions tend to focus on classroom and curriculum issues such as student progress and implementation of new approaches. Theoretical questions focus on how students should be educated and on the intellectual, political, and social contexts of learning. Self-reflective questions promote discussion of the teacher’s role in the educational process.
Any of the following questions could form the basis for a paper in an education course:
How does a school’s language arts curriculum prepare students to be information-literate?
What are the effects of the use of standardized tests in economically disadvantaged districts in comparison with more affluent districts?
How do my perceptions of my own education influence the way I approach teaching?
