Recognizing intellectual property

Recognizing intellectual property can be difficult if you are still becoming accustomed to using the English language. This can help you determine whether an idea you have included in your paper is someone else’s intellectual property.

If you encounter an idea that you think might be intellectual property but is not mentioned in the chart, take a draft of your paper to your instructor or your school’s writing center. It is important that you catch cases of accidental plagiarism before you turn in your work.
