Commas in addresses

The elements of an address or a place name are separated by commas. A zip code, however, is not preceded by a comma.

Example sentence with editing. Original sentence: John Lennon was born in Liverpool England in 1940. Revised sentence: John Lennon was born in Liverpool, England, in 1940.

Example sentence with editing. Original sentence: Please send the package to Greg Tarvin at 708 Spring Street Washington Illinois 61571. Revised sentence: Please send the package to Greg Tarvin at 708 Spring Street, Washington, Illinois 61571.
