Activity 1: Your understanding of written texts

Find a campaign banner or bumper sticker from a campus, local, or national election. Write a paragraph in which you analyze the features of the text you’ve selected. What font is used? What meaning does the font convey? What methods of emphasis are used with the text (for example, boldface or underline)? Think about the intended purpose and audience for the campaign piece and determine what message the text and the piece as a whole convey about the political candidate.
