ESL: Double subjects and other repetition

English does not allow double subjects, nor does it allow for repetition of an object or an adverb in an adjective clause. Unlike some languages, English does not allow repetition of a noun or a pronoun in a sentence if they serve the same grammatical purpose.

Example sentence with editing. Original sentence: My father he moved to North Carolina before he met my mother. Revised sentence: My father moved to North Carolina before he met my mother. Explanation: The word "he" has been deleted.

Example sentence with editing. Original sentence: The final exam I should really study for it to pass the course. Revised sentence: I should really study for the final exam to pass the course.
