Additional annotated example

Explain

  • Give publication information as for an article in a print journal, including page numbers, if they are available.
  • If the database gives a DOI (digital object identifier) for the article, end the citation with the DOI.
  • If the article does not have a DOI, give the URL for the home page of the journal. (You can find the home page, if it is not listed with the article, by searching for the name of the journal in a search engine.)
  • Do not use a period at the end of the entry.
  • Do not give the name of the database.

Note on breaking URLs and DOIs

  • If you must break a URL or a DOI at the end of a line, break it after a double slash or before any other mark of punctuation.
  • Do not add a hyphen.
  • Do not put a period at the end of the entry.
