Letters to the editor appear in journals, magazines, and newspapers.

  • Give publication information as for an article.
  • Insert the words “Letter to the editor” in brackets after the title of the letter.
  • If the letter has no title, use the bracketed words as the title, as in the example.

Note on breaking URLs and DOIs

  • If you must break a URL or a DOI at the end of a line, break it after a double slash or before any other mark of punctuation.
  • Do not add a hyphen.
  • Do not put a period at the end of the entry.
