Writing practice: Analyzing a written text
20
Share your draft with a writing center tutor or a classmate who can act as a reviewer. Use the Guidelines for analyzing a written text to help your reviewer gain perspective on your draft.
- Does your draft accomplish its purpose?
- Do you understand the author’s main idea?
- Have you looked carefully at the author’s evidence?
- Have you identified any faulty reasoning?
- Does your analysis present your judgment of the author’s ideas (not just a summary)?
Using the feedback you receive, write three to five revision goals in the space below.
Click Submit after each text box to submit your answers to your instructor’s gradebook. You may review your answers by returning to this activity at any time. (An activity reports to the gradebook only if your instructor has assigned it.)
