Explain

For a reproduction of a work of art in a print source, cite the following:

  • the artist’s name
  • the title of the artwork, italicized
  • the date of composition
  • the location of the artwork, if given in the source
  • the title of the book in which the artwork is found, italicized
  • the author or editor of the book (preceded by “by” or “edited by”), if any
  • publication information for the source (publisher, date)
  • the page number on which the work may be found
