Responding to an Image

Following Apple founder Steve Jobs’s death in October 2011, mourners created a makeshift shrine outside the Apple Store on London’s Regent Street. Examine and comment on the shrine itself. What do the objects included suggest about the mourners’ relationships to Apple and their perceptions of Jobs and his place in our culture? Briefly describe your own use of Apple products and your reaction, if any, to Jobs’s death. What do you make of the fact that passersby in the photo are capturing the memorial on their Apple iPhones?
