Note that although home schooling is still the least-chosen option, the number of home-schooled children is increasing, while the number of children attending zoned public schools is slightly decreasing. Although any child can be home-schooled, more detailed data indicate that the typical home-schooled child is a 7-year-old European American girl living in a rural area of the South with an employed father and a stay-at-home mother.
