Example:

It’s sad but true that you have to have a thick skin but a soft heart to be an elementary school teacher.

You have to be resilient but compassionate to be an elementary school teacher.

The first sentence uses the clichés sad but true and a thick skin but a soft heart. The second sentence contains no clichés.
