You can start Step 4: Rehearse by considering how you will actually deliver your speech. Will you have time to adequately prepare? How heavily (if at all) will you rely on notes? Will factors such as the setting, situation, or audience influence your presentation? Answering questions like these will help you determine your delivery style.

When preparing a presentation, there are three primary modes of delivery. You might have to deliver your message when you have little to no time for preparation (impromptu); you might write out and then read or memorize an entire script (manuscript); or you might have a combination of both, in which you prepare your research and notes but do not plan every word you’ll say in advance (extemporaneous).
