Conflict Involves Clashes between Goals or Actions

At the heart of conflicts are clashes between people’s goals or actions. Some conflicts revolve around goal disputes, ranging from disagreements between group members (whether or not a presentation should start with a funny story) to arguments between romantic partners regarding relationship desires (whether or not they should be exclusive). Other conflicts break out when the actions of certain people interrupt or interfere with the actions of others: someone takes the parking space you were waiting for, or a roommate repeatedly texts you while you’re trying to study.
