Multiple traumas A number of children in the Boston area developed posttraumatic stress disorder and/or other psychological disorders in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013. It turns out that their disorders were triggered not only by witnessing (in person or on television) the devastation produced by the bombing, but also by the door-to-door searches for the suspects conducted by police in the days following the bombing (Comer, 2014). Here a woman carries her child from their home as a SWAT team enters to conduct one such search.
