Of course, there are times when a conflict is resolved without either side getting what it wants. If Leslie decides that if she can’t have the pie nobody can, and tosses it in the trash, she’s resolved the conflict at hand, even though she didn’t get what she wanted. While such outcomes seem childish, they are in fact relatively common. Individuals often stay in jobs they hate and do them poorly because they don’t see the possibility for other outcomes; in such cases, both the individual and the employer lose, along with any customers or clients who depend on them.
