Collect and Work with Sources

The sources you choose to provide evidence in your article should reflect your understanding of the types of sources typically found in other articles in the publication. Some publications, particularly those focused on news and current events, depend heavily on field research — primarily interviews, observation, and correspondence — and personal experience. Others, such as professional and scholarly journals, rely primarily on published work and, in some cases, original research. To increase the likelihood that your article will be successful, make sure that your sources are consistent with those published in the articles you’ve studied during your publication analysis.
