Find a Conversation and Listen In

Evaluative essays allow you to share your judgments with readers who will consider your conclusions seriously and, in many cases, act on your recommendations. Your decision about which conversation to join should reflect your interests and your writing assignment. For example, were you surprised by a government plan to regulate the banking industry? Are you wondering whether a promising new television show has a future? Are you skeptical about claims that a new battery technology will finally usher in the age of the electric car? If so, ask yourself what interests you most about the subject, and then start listening to what others have had to say about it.
