Consider Objections and Alternative Solutions

Put yourself in the position of your readers, and ask some hard questions. Why is this solution better than another? What are the major drawbacks of your proposed solution? Under what conditions would your solution be likely to fail? Identify the objections your readers might have to your solution, and address them in your essay. Look as well for challenges to your solution that your readers might not consider but that you’ve become aware of in the course of your reading. Then address each challenge, explaining clearly why your solution is preferable to the alternatives you’ve identified.
