A Dwarf Elliptical Galaxy This nearby E4 galaxy, called Leo I, is about 600,000 light-years from Earth. It is only 3000 light-years in diameter and is so sparsely populated with stars that you can see right through its center. Leo I is a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way.
