David Wechsler Born in Romania, David Wechsler (1896–1981) emigrated with his family to New York when he was six years old. Like Binet, Wechsler believed that intelligence involved a variety of mental abilities. He also strongly believed that IQ scores could be influenced by personality, motivation, and cultural factors (Matarazzo, 1981).
