Moral Development: Developing a Sense of Right and Wrong As adolescents develop new cognitive abilities, they become more aware of moral issues in the world. Their newly acquired ability to imagine hypothetical situations and compare abstract ideals to the reality of situations often leads teenagers to question authority or take action against perceived injustices. This 16-yearold protestor is participating in an “Occupy Britain” demonstration in Nottingham, UK.
