Major Life Events, Daily Hassles, and Stress: Kathmandu, 2015 A major earthquake struck Nepal in April 2015, forcing thousands of Nepalis from homes rendered unsafe by the initial quake and the frequent aftershocks. For weeks, people lived in tents and other makeshift shelters, waiting for the ground to stop shaking. Here, Kathmandu residents and others evacuated from nearby villages wait in long lines for food and water. The daily hassles created by major disasters add to the high level of stress felt by all those affected.
