PORTFOLIO

Are We on the Same Page? After reading about the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator in this chapter, can you guess what type you are?

  1. Create a Word document and note each type that you think best fits your personality.

    Extravert or Introvert

    Sensing or Intuition

    Thinking or Feeling

    Judging or Perceiving

  2. Note what you think your four MBTI letters would be (e.g., ESTP).
  3. Using your favorite Internet search engine, search for “suggested careers for MBTI types.” You will find several Web sites that suggest specific careers based on specific personality types.
  4. Visit one site and list at least two careers that are recommended for the MBTI type you identify. Have you thought about these careers before? Do you think they would be a good fit for you? Why or why not? (Example: Careers recommended for ESTP: sales representatives, marketers, police, detectives, paramedics, medical technicians, computer technicians, computer technical support, entrepreneurs. Suggestions can be found at www.knowyourtype.com.)
  5. Save your findings in your portfolio or in the Cloud. Revisit this document as you continue to explore different majors and careers.
