Whether you are an online or on-campus student, a recent high school graduate, or someone who is older, your college or university will have resources to help students learn more about learning styles or to diagnose a learning disability.
To gather information about the support services your campus has to offer, talk to your first-year seminar instructor or instructors in education or psychology, who have a strong interest in the processes of learning. You’ll find that your peer leader can also steer you in the right direction. If you are a peer leader, make sure you have a working knowledge of the learning styles covered in this chapter.
A great deal of published information is available that describes how we learn. A campus librarian can help you locate books and online resources on learning styles and learning disabilities.
You will find groups on Facebook (facebook.com) that were created by students who have learning disabilities or ADHD. Connect with other students with learning disabilities at your college or university or at other institutions. If you have been diagnosed with a learning disability, the members of these groups can offer support and help you seek out appropriate resources to be successful in college.
