PARTICIPATE IN CLASS

Learning is not like watching sports; it’s like playing a sport. To play a sport—and not just watch it—you have to participate. Participation is the heart of active learning. To really learn, you must listen carefully, talk about what you are learning, write about it, connect it to past experiences, and make what you learn part of yourself. When you participate in class, whether to answer a question or to ask a question of your own, you are more likely to remember the information discussed than if you listen passively to someone else.
