(A) As the contour lines show, the Greenland ice sheet reaches over 3,000 m (1.8 mi) above sea level in elevation, and the Antarctic ice sheet reaches over 4,000 m (2.4 mi) above sea level. Note that the two ice sheets are not shown at their relative sizes. (B) As an ice sheet or ice cap flows outward and downslope, several different types of glaciers and glacial features are formed.
