Human activity adds about 35 billion metric tons (2010 rates) of CO₂ to the atmosphere each year, according to the 2014 Intergovernmental panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report. In about 4 days, human activity emits an entire average year’s worth of volcanic CO₂ emissions.
