Figure 3.11 An Example of Figure-Ground Ambiguity Do you see a white vase or two blue facial silhouettes looking at each other? You can see both, but only one at a time. When you switch your perception from one to the other, your brain is switching how the input is organized with respect to figure and ground. When you see a vase, the vase is the object, but when you see the two faces, the vase becomes the background.
