Japanese American Internment This painting was made by one of the more than 10,000 Japanese American inmates at the Heart Mountain Relocation Camp in Wyoming who were interned during World War II. Most of the internees were American citizens of Japanese descent from the West Coast. The scene depicts the camp’s isolation yet conveys the enduring spirit of the artist. “Heart Mt.
