Social Loafing These elementary school students in Louisiana worked as a group to build a robot using Legos and electronic components. It’s possible that all of these students contributed equally to the project. It’s also possible that one or more of these students just coasted, letting their classmates do most of the work. Many students dislike group projects because they fear social loafing. But it doesn’t always take place. When people know the other members of their group, social loafing is less likely to occur. What other factors make social loafing less likely?
