Single-Parent Families Today, more than 30 percent of all children are being raised by a single parent. Many single parents provide their children with a warm, stable, and loving environment. In terms of school achievement and emotional stability, children in stable, single-parent households do just as well as children with two parents living in the same home (Dawson, 1991).
