Tibetans have a special variant of the EPAS1 gene
Twenty-two human chromosomes are arrayed from left to right. The y-axis shows results from a statistical test of whether there is a significant difference in SNP frequency between Tibetans and Han Chinese. Each small dot represents one of the SNPs that was tested. SNPs above the horizontal red line are significantly different. Only the SNPs in the EPAS1 gene show a significant difference.
