Drosophila and vertebrate Hox protein show striking similarities
The sequences of the Drosophila Deformed protein homeodomain and of several members of the vertebrate Hox group 4 genes are strikingly similar. Residues in common are shaded in yellow; divergent residues are shaded in red; residues common to subsets of proteins are shaded in blue. The very similar C-terminal flanking regions outside of the homeodomain are shaded in green.
