This can result in deletions (A, B), duplications (B), inversions (C), or reciprocal translocations (D). Note that the letters on these illustrations represent large segments of the chromosomes. Because chromosomes contain regions of noncoding DNA, each segment may include anywhere from zero to hundreds or thousands of genes.
