Figure 47.1 The Structure of Skeletal Muscle A skeletal muscle is made up of bundles of muscle fibers. Each muscle fiber is a multinucleate cell containing numerous myofibrils, which are highly ordered assemblages of thick myosin and thin actin filaments. The arrangement of the actin and myosin filaments gives skeletal muscle fibers their characteristic striated appearance.
