Find the retinal receptive field for the cell you are recording from and determine its location and type.
INSTRUCTIONS
Record from a ganglion cell: To select and record
from a ganglion cell, drag the electrode and place it on
the retina or optic nerve.
Change stimulus: Click and drag the spot of light
on the screen at the right until you see a change in
action potential response. An increase or decrease in
the response indicates you have found part of the
receptive field of your selected ganglion cell.
Map receptive field: Click one of the buttons
under Mapping Tools to mark the activity level where the
spot of light is. Continue moving the spot and mapping
the activity until you have created an image of an
on-center or off-center receptive field on the screen.
Click Show Receptive Field to confirm your map.
