Title for Slide

The maintenance of a constant glomerular filtration rate (GFR) depends on an adequate blood supply to the kidneys at an adequate blood pressure. If blood pressure falls (along with GFR), one mechanism the body uses to return the GFR to normal is to dilate the afferent arterioles in the kidney, which decreases the resistance in the arterioles and helps maintain blood pressure in the glomerulus.
