Create an “autobiography” of a hypothetical medieval townsperson. Your autobiography should highlight the role of guilds in town life, showing how your subject’s life was shaped by medieval urban economic organizations and policies. You may choose a man or a woman, rich or poor, who may be an outsider or someone with long-standing roots in the town. Be sure to consider how your subject’s gender, wealth, and status might affect the opportunities and challenges they face and the choices they make.
