The Biological Perspective The physiological aspects of behavior and mental processes are studied by biological psychologists. Psychologists and other scientists who specialize in the study of the brain and the rest of the nervous system are called neuroscientists. Tania Singer, shown here presenting her research at a conference in Stockholm, Sweden, is particularly interested in social neuroscience—the ways in which social behaviors and experiences are influenced by and influence brain processes. Singer (2012) has studied the brain processes involved in such diverse topics as empathy, compassion, fairness, and economics (McCall & Singer, 2012; Singer & others, 2006, 2004).
