FIGURE 12.26 Landfills dedicated to the disposal of hazardous waste are subject to much more stringent standards of construction and management than landfills for the disposal of MSW. Surface impoundments used for temporary storage of liquid hazardous waste are carefully constructed to avoid leakage.
