Introduction

All healthy diets should offer varied, balanced, and adequate intake of the food groups. Eating a variety of food groups helps ensure the body is eating the wide array of nutrients required for healthy living.

In this activity, you will explore the food groups in your diet and compare the amount you ingest with the current dietary recommendations.

This activity can be completed using the Analyze My Diet tool linked from your LaunchPad course or any dietary analysis software that provides the daily average amount of vitamins consumed.

To complete the activity using Analyze My Diet:

  • If you have not already completed the Analyze My Diet Tutorial and tracked at least one day’s nutrition and activity, do so first.
  • Within Analyze My Diet, go to the Reports tab.
  • Select “MyPlate” on the left
    • Select the day(s) that are a good representative of your typical diet.
    • Click “Show Report” to download your Nutrition Report.
    • Within the report, you will see the intake amount and recommendation for the food groups.
  • Select “Calorie Assessment” on the left
    • Select the day(s) that are a good representative of your typical diet.
    • Click “Show Report” to download your Calorie Assessment.
    • Within the report, you will see the intake amount and recommendation for the food groups.
